On Wednesday, Adobe reported that it will release a new generative artificial intelligence (gen-AI) video creation and editing tool this year.
The new Adobe Firefly Video Model will be released in beta and join the tech firm’s current line of Firefly image-generating applications. Its launch aims to improve the Photoshop maker’s series of applications to cater to creative professionals.
Moreover, the gen-AI tool can enable users to produce still images, designs, and vector graphics.
The model would also establish Adobe in the rising AI-based market for video generation tools already targeted by apps. These include OpenAI, Stability AI, and other AI video apps from minor startups.
Alexandru Costin, Vice President of gen-AI at Adobe, said the tools can generate a five-second clip in a single prompt. They would also be able to interpret both text and image prompts, with users allowed to specify the required camera angle, panning, motion, and zoom.
He added that the company invested in making the model achieve the expected level of quality and prompt understanding. Costin noted that they invested in staying ahead of other AI video models.
Furthermore, Adobe is launching a Generative Extend tool for its Premiere Pro video editing software. It can lengthen clips to be edited by two seconds by generating an appropriate filler for gaps in the video footage.
Acrobat Reader Zero-Day to be Repaired by Adobe
Cybersecurity researchers are urging Adobe to upgrade its Acrobat Reader. This came after a fix for a remote code execution zero-day with a public in-the-wild proof-of-concept exploit was disclosed.
Acrobat Reader zero-day was discovered in June to detect complex exploits such as zero-days or hard-to-detect exploits.
The error is tracked as CVE-2024-41869, a vital use after free vulnerability that can shift to remote code execution when opening crafted PDF documents.
On the other hand, the bus has now been fixed in the latest Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat versions.
