Google, as well as Apple and other famous companies, celebrated this year’s International Women’s Day. Companies honored the women in their lives with tweets and interactive pages.
Let’s have a look at how Apple and Google celebrated this important day. The Cupertino-based tech giant launched an interactive feature on its homepage on International Women’s Day. It is worth mentioning that the purpose of this interactive feature to celebrate who are changing “everything”.
The page launched by Apple included a scrollable compilation of photos, in addition to short biographies of today’s most influential women. It also includes a link, for people who would like to sign-up for hands-on sessions to learn more about how women can empower.
Notably, the founder of #MeToo Tarana Burke, as well as soccer star Megan Rapinoe, were featured on the compilation. Interestingly, this interactive feature on Apple’s website also includes information about human rights activist Malala Yousafzai’s Malala Fund.
Moreover, Apple also posted invitations and information about free coding camps.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook used his Twitter account to show his support for the annual event. Also, the company’s music platform launched a new playlist on April 8, curated by female artists called Women of Choice.
As mentioned above, Google also celebrated International Women’s Day. It decided to use Google’s Doodle for that purpose. The tech giant honored the achievements of women with all backgrounds.
The doodle has a play button that when someone touches this button, it shows a multi-layered paper mandala animation that depicts women of history. Interestingly, one of the most detailed layers describes the 1950s to the 1980s as the most significant era.
Moreover, the layer showing the 1990s to the present day highlights the results of progress made over a hundred years.
