On Tuesday, AT&T revealed that it had debuted its Try AT&T program, which T-Mobile and Version have offered throughout the years.
According to reports, the program proposed no commitment to the test trial. Users can still maximize their current service provider, number, and device.
On the other hand, the Try AT&T program only debuted on iOS, but the company aims to launch its Android support next year. The test utilizes eSIM, which lets users use a secondary line on their device without getting rid of their primary number.
In addition, customers will need an iOS phone compatible with eSIM, such as an iPhone 12 or above model.
Furthermore, users must download the AT&T app and click the free trial choice to transfer the eSIM to the device.
The company also noted that users could switch to their current and the firm’s service during the test trial, signaling its convenience for users to compare both carriers.
According to reports, AT&T’s free test trial will last 30 days. It will also include unlimited calls and texts, but the program limits mobile data to 100GB and 25GB when a device becomes a hotspot.
Meanwhile, Verizon has been offering a similar 30-day test trial, while T-Mobile runs for 90 days. Both companies also pledged unlimited data during their services’ test trial.
Try AT&T Program Aims to Rival T-Mobile and Verizon
According to sources, AT&T’s recent test trial program aimed to compete with T-Mobile and Verizon’s offerings.
On the other hand, T-Mobile has had a network sampling program for some time. It introduced eSIM support in 2021 and later expanded its Network Pass to allow users to try the network for free for three months in 2022.
In the same year, Verizon launched a similar 30-day trial program. Smaller carriers like Visible, a Verizon subsidiary, and Cricket, owned by AT&T, also offer trial programs, though these are typically limited to about two weeks.
