AU’s S&P/ASX 200 up 0.17%; Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 1.14%

Australia stocks were higher on Thursday after the close. Gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Discretionary, and Utilities sectors led the shares higher. The S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.17% at the close in Sydney. 

The session’s best performers on the S&P/ASX 200 were Adelaide Brighton Ltd. Their stocks advanced 5.28% or 0.170 points to trade at 3.390 at the close. 

Moreover, Polynovo Ltd edged up 4.88% or 0.140 points to end at 3.010. Brickworks Ltd climbed 4.71% or 0.89 points to 19.80 in late trade.

The session’s worst performers were Resolute Mining Ltd. They edged down 26.19% or 0.165 points to trade at 0.465 at the close. 

Hub24 Ltd dropped 13.99% or 3.39 points to end at 20.85. Netwealth Group Ltd fell 13.66% or 2.18 points to 13.78.

On the Sydney Stock Exchange, the number of falling stocks surpassed the number of advancing ones. That was by 737 to 580, while 355 ended unchanged.

Resolute Mining Ltd shares declined to 5-year lows, down 26.19% or 0.165 to 0.465.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX plunged 13.06% to 11.406, a new 1-month low.

Japanese Stocks Higher at Close of Trade

 

Japanese stocks were higher on Thursday after the close. Gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus, and Real Estate sectors helped push the shares higher. The Nikkei 225 gained 1.14% at the close in Tokyo. 

Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co were the session’s best performers on the Nikkei 225. Therefore, at the close, they were up 5.82% or 210.0 points to trade at 3820.0.

Moreover, Konica Minolta, Inc. edged up 4.79% or 28.0 points to end at 612.0. Minebea Mitsumi Inc climbed 4.67% or 124.0 points to 2779.0 in late trade.

Moreover, the session’s worst performers were Hino Motors, Ltd. They edged down 5.19% or 52.0 points to trade at 949.0 at the close. 

Softbank Group Corp. dropped 2.84% or 265.0 points to end at 9075.0. Isuzu Motors, Ltd. dipped 1.94% or 23.0 points to 1163.0.

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the number of rising stocks surpassed the number of declining ones. That was by 2871 to 722, while 168 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility was steady at 0% to 25.65.
