Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq Performers

According to the latest news, U.S stocks boosted after the close on October 5 as increased gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology, and Healthcare sectors helped shares to rise. The DJIA (Dow Jones Industrial Average) gained 1.68% in the New York Stock Exchange and hit a new one-month high. The S&P 500 index gained 1.80%, while the Nasdaq Composite Index boosted 2.32%.

Significantly, the Dow’s best performers included the world’s foremost technology company Apple. Its stocks  increased by 3.48 points or 3.08% and settled at 116.50. Amgen, a biotechnology company, gained 10.60 points, which equals to 4.32%, and traded at 256.01 at the close. TheTravelers Companies Inc, an American insurance company, gained 3.07% (or 3.33 points) to 111.91.

Coca-Cola was Among the Dow’s worst performers

Besides, there were terrible performers too. Among the Dow Jones worst performers were the Coca-Cola company, which rose by 0.04% (or 0.02 points) to 49.38 at the close. Merck & Company Inc, an American multinational pharmaceutical company, climbed 0.54% (or 0.44 points) and settled at 81.24.

Walt Disney Company rose 0.67% or 0.82 points and reached 123.37.

Moreover, S&P 500 best performers were Regeneron Pharmaceulicals Inc, which gained 7.13% to 605.08, United Rentals Inc, which boosted d 6.85% and settled at 197.70, and Occidental Petroleum Corporation, which rose 6.48% and reached 10.51.

Among the worst performers were DR Horton Inc, which eased by 2.81% and settled at 75.70 in late trade. The Charles Schwab Corporation declined by 1.94% to 36.94. Moreover, the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd which dropped by 1.62% to 16.99.

The best performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Westwater Resources Inc, which rose by 87.33% and settled 8.280, GreenPro Capital Corp., which gained 70.64% and hit 1.8600 and MyoKardia Inc, which boosted 57.84% and reached 220.34.

Meanwhile, Westell Technologies Inc, one of the worst performers, eased 17.89% and reached 0.920 in late trade. Synalloy Corporation dropped 17.28% to 4.69, and Lonestar Resources Ltd decreased by 12.25% and settled at 0.275 at the close.
