European Stocks Crash as U.S. Stocks Are Mixed

On Thursday, July 15, all European stocks crashed as Germany and the United Kingdom, the region’s first and second-largest economies, led the losses.

At the close in Frankfurt Stock Exchange, both DAX and MDAX Performance Index declined 0.004% or 0.66 points to $15,789 and 0.420% or 145.09 points to $34,776, respectively.

The former’s losers were led by Siemens Energy, Deutsche Boerse, and RWE. They all sank 1.75% at $30.51, 1.12% at $171.60 and 0.98% at $36.31, respectively.

The latter’s declines were led by HelloFresh, which plummeted 2.80% to $97.66; MorphoSys, which decreased 2.76% to $72.47; and Gerresheimer, which eased 2.52% to $103.08.

At the London Stock Exchange, the FTSE 100 Index and FTSE All-Share Index both fluctuated 0.47% or 33.53 points to $7,091 and 0.52% or 21.34 points to $4,050, respectively.

Hargreaves Lansdown, Ocado Group, and Halma pulled down the former by 3.52% to $2,239.27 per share, 2.99% to $2,557.59 per share, and 2.04% to $3,864.06 per share, respectively.

In France, the region’s third-largest economy, the CAC 40 index plunged 0.001% with a net change of $0.09. This sent the stocks to the bottom at $6,558 per share.

Vinci, Renault, and Bouygues led the benchmark losses by 1.51% or 1.38 points to $106.54, 1.23% or 0.40 points to $37.92, and 1.21% or 0.39 points to $37.63, respectively.

Furthermore, the U.S. stocks were mixed as the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.13%, with a net increase of $44.44 to $34,933 per share.

Its best performers include Apple Inc, which rose 2.41% at $149.15, Coca-Cola Co, which spiked 2.25% at $56.26; and Honeywell International Inc, which jumped 1.65% at $227.77.

Likewise, the S&P 500 Index also boosted 0.12%, with a net gain of $5.09 to $4,374 per share.

Its top performers were led by Wells Fargo, which progressed 3.98% to $44.95; Perrigo, which rallied 3.11% to $47.44; and American Airlines, which soared 3.00% to $20.62.

On the other hand, the Nasdaq Composite Index lost 0.22% or 32.70 points at $14,645 per share.

Its worst performers include Allena Pharmaceuticals, Allied Healthcare Products, and Antelope Enterprise Holdings. They all fell 35.04%, 31.13%, and 25.75%, respectively.
