On Thursday, Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) Gemini announced its partnership with NBCUniversal and Team USA broadcast of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
According to reports, the 2024 Olympics coverage will start on July 26 as sports enthusiasts will be reminded of the latest updates. NBCUniversal’s collaboration with Google will also bring various companies’ AI-powered tools during the four-year Olympiad.
Furthermore, the broadcast will add Google Maps’ 3D views of venues and what events will occur in Versailles, Stade Roland Garros, and the Aquatic Center.
In a joint statement, the organizations announced that Google has been named the official AI partner of Team USA. This marks the tech giant’s debut collaboration with the sports non-profit.
Reports show that NBCUniversal is modernizing its Olympic broadcast to attract online viewers and younger audiences unfamiliar with live television.
Moreover, the Comcast-owned media firm will launch personalized AI-generated daily recaps, which AI versions of sports figures commentators like Al Michaels will narrate.
Meanwhile, as a part of the agreement to promote Google’s Gemini and its other AI features, announcers and commentators can leverage Google Search AI Overviews into coverage segments by trying to answer Olympic and Paralympic queries.
Google’s AI overviews will also offer written answers to search questions without requiring users to click a website link.

NBCUniversal will utilize Google’s AI Overview in its broadcast to elevate sports coverage for the upcoming 2024 Summer Paris Olympics Games.
According to reports, the AI Overview will help viewers explain crucial sports rules like swimming and basketball. It will also provide details on guiding runners for Paralympic Track and Field events.
Moreover, audiences will have the chance to understand fully the sport they are watching by utilizing AI-gen insights, which aims to enhance viewers’ experience.
Furthermore, YouTube TV subscribers will have access to additional exclusive content about the four-year Olympiad. For example, by putting the 2024 Paris Olympics in their search bars, they can record and save games categorized by specific sports.
