Just Eat adds Bitcoin payments

Just Eat is a British online food order and delivery service, founded in 2001. According to the company’s presentation in December 2019, the business has a 240,000 partner restaurant. Just Eat, a leading British online food order and delivery platform operating across 13 countries, has added cryptocurrency payment support for its France subsidiary. Food orders from above 15,000 restaurants in France can be paid with Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrencies.

The website has been accepting bitcoin for some time. The Just Eat website for France details this with the website redesign: “Payment methods have been expanded to include Apple Pay, Google Pay (via our Just Eat app) and Bitcoin, in addition to other payment methods: credit card, PayPal, cash, checks or restaurant vouchers.”

Just Eat has partnered with the cryptocurrency payment provider Bitpay to permit its customers to pay in Bitcoin.

Payment details

According to the website, while completing the order, customers should choose the bitcoin option. After clicking, the order user will be taken to Bitbay, the website’s bitcoin payment provider. Afterward, the Bitcoin wallet will be open, and a payment request will be made. However, for the current exchange rate of Bitcoin, customers should see Bitpay. After finishing the order, the customer will be returned to the website, and the order will be sent directly to the restaurant.

Just Eat reports that they do not charge any fees for BTC payments. In order to make a Bitcoin payment, customers should create a digital wallet by downloading an app.

Except for bitcoin, users can also choose from another cryptocurrency such are ETH, BCH, USDC, GUSP, XRP, BUSD, and PAX.

If a user cancels an order, the website will return the paid money in euros in the user’s bank account and not in Bitcoin. However, the refund will not depend on the current price of Bitcoin.
