On Wednesday, at the Meta Connect 2024, the tech giant unveiled Orion’s most advanced augmented reality (AR) glasses.
According to reports, the AR glasses were first dubbed five years ago. These wearable technologies aim to integrate the digital and physical worlds, providing users with an enticing and interactive experience.
Furthermore, Orion has evolved from smart glasses previously introduced by Meta through the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
These glasses provided hands-free access to digital features, including artificial intelligence (AI) assistance, connecting with friends, and capturing moments without needing a smartphone.
While Ray-Ban Meta offers display-less AI-powered glasses, Orion enhances the experience by incorporating a holographic display for greater immersion. This integration lets users engage with digital content more interactively.
Moreover, Meta has dedicated significant efforts to miniaturizing virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies into lightweight, stylish wearables. Orion showcases a significant milestone in this endeavor, integrating advanced technology into a compact, wearable design.
It also provides the largest field of view for AR glasses, allowing for various immersive experiences. This includes multitasking with holographic windows, enjoying big-screen entertainment, and interacting with lifelike holograms.
Orion’s design distinguishes it from others. It resembles regular glasses with transparent lenses.
This feature allows users to see the eyes and expressions of others, promoting improved social interactions while engaging with AR.
CEO of Meta Unveils Working on Recreating Creators with AI
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed plans to use AI to assist influencers, which he boasts two demos onstage at the firm’s annual event.
The first version of this initiative involves wholly recreating real creators as AI figures. Zuckerberg showed it live, identical to an influencer-based auto-bot persona that looks, talks, and responds like the creator.
Another feature Meta is developing is automatically dubbing Reels into another language while preserving the influencer’s voice and adjusting their mouth movements to match.
The CEO showcased two videos featuring Reels created by Spanish creators, which were translated and dubbed into English on stage.
