Meta to Introduce Multiple Upgrades with Quest v71

On Monday, Meta Platforms Incorporated announced plans to launch several feature upgrades in the upcoming Quest v71 update.

Based on reports, the tech giant targets intuitiveness and versatility by rolling out a better interface and functionality for users.

Additionally, the Quest v71 overhauls the Horizon Operating System (OS) by integrating refined themes. The change includes the option to choose from a dark or light theme, which enhances readability and clarity.

In line with this, an organized settings menu was incorporated to boost productivity and smooth utilization. It comprises an optimized search function and layout for easier navigation, generating efficiency in the virtual reality (VR) environment.

Meta also introduced calendar navigation and a volume mixer for improved audio management. The former enables monitoring personal and work schedules, while the latter helps control sound separately across applications.

At the same time, the Facebook parent worked on the travel mode of the Quest v71, allowing convenient usage for users. Specifically, individuals can now access theater mode and other work-related features while travelling by train.

Moreover, Meta streamlined the headset’s connection, rendering seamless PC connectivity. The new integration underpins high-quality video casting, enriching the VR experience.

In addition, the all-new update would be available in the following week across multiple models of the device.

FAIR Team of Meta Aims Giving Robots Tactility

The Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team of Meta looks to give robots a sense of touch using a diverse set of tools. It strives to make the machines able to detect, understand, and identify objects.

More concretely, the California-based corporation eyes the safe coexistence of robots and humans. It also considers the innovation as a step toward the creation of advanced machine intelligence (AMI).

As part of its efforts, FAIR revealed Sparsh, a technology designed to operate across sensors and touchpoints. Simultaneously, Meta will use the Digit 360, which determines the necessary pressure to move an object.
