Snap Inc. Stock Rises Following CAO Sells Shares

On Thursday, in a Securities and Exchange (SEC) filing, Snap Inc. stock surged after CAO Rebecca Morrow sold $22,000 worth of shares.

The company closed the session by climbing 2.65% to $9.67 apiece and 0.72% to $9.74 per share in after-hours trading.

Furthermore, this week, 2,459 Class A Common Stock shares were sold at an average price of $9.2893 per share, totaling $22,842 in proceeds.

The sale occurred through multiple transactions, with prices varying between $9.165 and $9.515 apiece.

Meanwhile, the filing revealed that the shares were sold to cover tax withholding obligations from the release of restricted stock units (RSUs). It also covered the lapse of forfeiture restrictions on restricted stock awards.

After the transaction, Morrow still holds 476,218 shares of Snap Inc.’s Class A Common Stock.

According to reports, investors frequently monitor insider transactions for clues about a company’s performance and executives’ confidence in its future.

However, sales made to cover tax obligations are routine and do not necessarily reflect a lack of confidence in the company’s outlook.

Citi Keeps Snap Stock Neutral Despite UX and AR Innovations

On Wednesday, Citi reiterated its Neutral rating for Snap Inc. and maintained its $11.00  price target.

This rating follows Snap’s 2024 Partner Summit, where the company introduced its latest product innovations.

Citi emphasized the potential of the firm’s Simple Snapchat redesign, currently in beta, and the 5th Generation Spectacles as long-term drivers for user engagement growth.

According to reports, the redesign seeks to improve the user experience for Snap’s 850 million monthly active users (MAU) by separating Chat and Stories from friends.

It also distinguishes creator-driven content through Spotlight, which has 500 million monthly active users.

Furthermore, analysts highlighted SnapOS’s impressive features and applications in learning, gaming, and productivity.

These capabilities align with the company’s long-term vision for its augmented reality (AR) computing platform.
