S&P/ASX 200 up 0.59%; Nikkei 225 up 2.12%

Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, and with S&P/ASX 200 gaining 0.59%. It is on track to hit a new 6-month high at the close in Sydney.

Gains in the Metals & Mining, Materials, and Resources sectors led the shares higher.

The outperformers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Zip Co Ltd (ASX: Z1P), up 12.90%. That was 1.12 points to trade at 9.80 at the close. 

Moreover, Vocus Group Ltd (ASX: VOC) added 12.79%, which was 0.56 points to end at 4.94. In late trade, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX: LYC) was up 7.14% or 0.350 points to 5.250.

Furthermore, the worst performers of the session were Origin Energy Ltd (ASX: ORG). They fell 3.53% or 0.160 points to trade at 4.370 at the close. 

Unibail Rodamco Westfield (ASX: URW) was down 3.19% or 0.16 points to end at 4.85. Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX: OBL) was down 3.15% or 0.12 points to 3.69.

Rising stocks on the Sydney Stock Exchange exceeded declining ones by 747 to 639, and 331 ended unchanged.

Zip Co Ltd (ASX: Z1P) shares drifted to all-time highs, up 12.90% or 1.12 to 9.80. Vocus Group Ltd (ASX: VOC) shares rose to 3-year highs, rising 12.79% or 0.56 to 4.94.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX was down 4.94% to 13.994. 

Japan Stocks Ended Higher; Nikkei 225 up 2.12%

Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, with the Nikkei 225 gaining 2.12%.  It is on track to hit a new 5-year high at the close in Tokyo. 

Gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus, and Real Estate sectors led shares higher. 

The outperformers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kobe Steel, Ltd. (T:5406). They rose 17.47% or 94.0 points to trade at 632.0 at the close. 

Moreover, Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) added 12.66% or 51.0 points to end at 454.0. In late trade, Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) was up 9.84% or 36.0 points to 402.0. 

AGC Inc (T:5201) were the worst performers of the session. They fell 2.97% or 115.0 points to trade at 3755.0 at the close.

Sony Corp (T:6758) fell 2.85% or 355.0 points to end at 12095.0. Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269) fell 2.58% or 132.0 points to 4978.0.

Rising stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange exceeded declining ones by 2548 to 1045, and 158 ended unchanged.

Kobe Steel, Ltd. (T:5406) shares rose to 52-week highs, gaining 17.47% or 94.0 to 632.0. Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) shares rose to 52-week highs, rising 12.66% or 51.0 to 454.0.

The Nikkei Volatility was unchanged from 0% to 20.79.
