Spotify Stock Drops as Users Experience Streaming Glitches

On Sunday, Spotify Technology’s stock price dipped as more than 40,000 US users posted on social media that they experienced an outage.

The audio streaming platform’s stock price dropped by -2.63% to $369.20 apiece on September 27’s Asian afternoon session. However, it was expected to rise by 0.01% to $369.22 in the after-hours trading.

According to the outage tracker, DownDetector’s report, the application’s hiccup affected its listeners’ access to music and podcasts. Users claim that the technical error disrupted their daily routines.

Subscribers’ frustrations began to arise at five in the afternoon, and the number of complaints rose for about an hour.

Moreover, it stated that the issue reached other Spotify users outside the US, with over 3,000 complaints from Britain alone.

Based on comments from users on their community page, they were not able to stream anything other than recently played songs. In addition, their playlists would not load, and music randomly paused for some.

Music fans noted on their social media posts that they tried deleting and reinstalling the application.

Also, reports stated that the root of the audio steamer’s problem was unclear despite it being a significant global problem.

On the other hand, Spotify posted on the X platform that it had acknowledged the outage and was handling it.

Indian Video Consumption on Spotify Boosted

The Swedish audio streaming app Spotify gained leverage from higher video consumption. This braced the platform to deliver more value to brands, allowing them to advertise their offerings to potential consumers in India through multi-format commercials.

According to its global head of advertising, Lee Brown, they are making substantial investments in video consumption on the platform. Furthermore, they witnessed a 94.00% increase in the time spent on video on the app in India.

Brown also noted that there is an opportunity for them to take a multi-format with numerous marketers they engaged with to build their audio business.
