On Friday, Starbucks dropped when over 150 stores had strikes after the union said that some cafes could not place Pride decorations.
Its stock price went down by -2.49% to $98.34 per share on June 23.
Starbucks Workers United represented around 3,500 workers who pledged to participate in the strikes. Over two dozen additional stores were voting on strike, increasing the number to almost 200 stores.
The union reported that many US stores were not allowing their employees to put up decorations for Pride month. Complaints led to negative feedback against LGBTQ+ inclusion, gaining support from corporate America.
According to Starbucks, they did not revise their guidelines for store decorations. CEO Laxman Narasimhan stated that their company will continue supporting the community.
Also, he mentioned that there have not been any changes to their policies regarding inclusiveness. They will keep encouraging their store leaders to celebrate US Pride month as they always have.
In response to the strike pledges, Starbucks claimed Workers United spread misinformation about their policies. It is a tactic they use to raise conflict among partners and divert from failure for response in bargaining sessions.
Furthermore, the union had allegations in 22 states when staff could not decorate. It said it filed an unfair labor practice charge against Starbucks over a policy change.
