Starbucks Hopes to Have Organized Pickets

On Sunday, the stock price of Starbucks went down, while its pro-union baristas pushed out their campaigns on Monday.

Its stock price decreased by -0.16% to $96.05 per share on July 07.

The workers are trying a new strategy to ask the Starbucks customers to assemble pickets. The pickets would be around the non-unionized cafes in America.

Moreover, the Workers United Union aims to give out flyers during the 13-city bus tour to customers. They will provide QR codes to bring them to a sign-up sheet to organize protests. It would be held during a national Adopt-a-Store on August 07, as shown on the flyers.

Also, the union is taking a sharper route into directly aiming at customers as the agreement negotiations continue. The union and the firm pointed fingers at each other for the bargaining delays and labor law violations.

In addition, Starbucks was convicted of over 570 unjust labor practice charges. On Thursday, the National Labor Relations Board charged the chain due to declining to rehire 33 workers. After one of the cafes unionized, it shuffled three staff in downtown Seattle stores.

Furthermore, the issues are negatively affecting the reputation of Starbucks as a prominent employer. Besides, other investors are pushing the company to be responsible for its treatment of pro-union workers.

Thailand Starbucks Stores to Increase

According to a Bangkok report, Starbucks Thailand plans to open 335 new coffee shops in the country. They hope to achieve that goal by the end of 2023.

The famous coffee chain initially had a target to have more stores, increasing the count from 465 to 480. Nednapa Srisamai, Starbucks Thailand managing director, said that the increase will make the store count reach 800 by 2030.

Furthermore, its eight-year business strategy will bring more stores to open, which have the Reserve and Drive-Through formats. Also, the managing director stated that the other shops point their brand to move toward a great future.

In addition, Northern Thailand continues to focus on the health of its coffee farming communities.
