The Dow Jones Reached a New One-Month High

U.S. stocks increased after the close on Monday as gains in Oil & Gas, Technology and Healthcare sectors weighed on shares.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average boosted 1.68% in The New York Stock Exchange and reached a new one-month high. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite index climbed 2.32%, and the S&P 500 index rose 1.80%. 

Among the Dow Jones’s best performers were Amgen, one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies, which increased by 4.32% (which equals 10.60 points) and traded at 256.01 at the close. Meanwhile, the giant Apple gained 3.08%, which equals 3.48 points and traded at 116.50.

Besides, the Travelers Companies inc, an American insurance company, rose 3.07% (or 3.33 points) at settled at 111.91.

Significantly, among the Dow Jones worst performers were the Coca-Cola company, which increased by 0.04% (or 0.02 points) and settled at 49.38 at the close. Merck & Company Inc, an American multinational pharmaceutical company, boosted 0.54% (or 0.44 points) and traded at 81.24.

S&P 500 Performers

Among the S&P 500 best performers were Regeneron Pharmaceulicals Inc, which boosted 7.13% to 605.08, United Rentals Inc, which gained 6.85% and traded at 197.70 and Occidental Petroleum Corporation which climbed 6.48% and settled at 10.51.

The worst performers were DR Horton Inc, which decreased by 2.81% and traded at 75.70 in late trade. The Charles Schwab Corporation eased 1.94% to 36.94 and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd which declined by 1.62% to 16.99.

Nasdaq Performers

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Westwater Resources Inc. It rose 87.33% to 8.280. Moreover, GreenPro Capital Corp., was up 70.64% to settle at 1.8600 and MyoKardia Inc. gained 57.84% to close at 220.34.

The worst performers were Westell Technologies Inc. They dropped 17.89% to settle at 0.920 in late trade, Synalloy Corporation.
