Toyota Hit Best Sales in a Decade in the Indian Market

In 2022, Japanese automaker Toyota posted its best sales in a decade in the Indian market amid the success of Hyryder and Innova Crysta.

The latter model was the company’s highest-selling unit for Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), its subsidiary in India.

In the previous calendar year, the firm sold around 1,600,357 cars in the local Indian market. This latest data shows an increase of 22.005 over 1,300,768 units sold in 2021.

Besides, TKM sold 10,421 units in December 2022 alone, higher than the 10,834 autos it recorded over the same period in the previous year.

Meanwhile, approximately 80.00% of the demand for the newly-launched Hyryder came in for the entity’s robust hybrid option.

Likewise, the Innova Hycross model has registered strong demand for hybrid variants.

Furthermore, TKM’s flagship units, such as the Fortuner, Legender, and Camry, maintained a robust presence in their respective markets.

Looking forward, Toyota said it would continue introducing electrified vehicles in the market to bolster volumes sustainably in India.

Last October, an unrelated issue at the firm’s T-Connect service possibly leaked around 296,000 customer information.

In addition, the entity addressed that roughly 300,000 personal data have been uncovered since 2017.

Besides, these series of attacks have been targeting both private and public state-run enterprises in India.
