Toyota to Adjust 3-year EV Plan for Suppliers

Toyota will adjust its electric vehicle (EV) plan for its key suppliers next year to narrow the gap in performance and price against competitors.

This decision came in light of the company’s view that gasoline-electric hybrids will remain vital for the carbon-neutral transport transition.

According to sources, the Japanese automaker has been trying to improve its strategy through performance-enhancing technology for EVs.

In particular, it aims to refine integrated heating, cooling, and electric drive systems.

However, the changes might result in delays for the three-year period EV development program.

Previously, Toyota adjusted its plans for its first two electric vehicles, the Lexus RZ and bZ4X. This move came after it started reviewing the $30.00 billion three-stage plan late last year.

Accordingly, Toyota suspended work on its battery-powered car projects.

Meanwhile, the Japan-based automaker’s development team began looking to improve its technology and cost performance.

Furthermore, the group was tasked with outlining the adjustments in the company’s EV approach.

Accordingly, Toyota is working and talking with major partners and suppliers to reach its carbon neutrality goal.

Particularly, it is looking to adapt the new thermal management system developed by the joint collaboration of Aisin and Denso.

Looking forward, the Japan-based auto manufacturer expects to sell about 3.50 million EVs yearly.

SUV Line-up Expansion of Toyota

Toyota will expand its sport utility vehicle (SUV) line-up in the US market with its new model Grand Highlander.

The product’s trailer is now available and will be revealed at the Chicago Motor Show next year.

Besides, Toyota stated that the Grand Highlander will be spacious, powerful, and sophisticated. As such, the automaker classified the model as a family-sized road-trip vehicle.

Furthermore, its two electric motors will be paired with the newest 2.40-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid.

Moreover, it will be available with a six-speed automatic with an output of 340.00 brake horsepower (bhp).

Meanwhile, a Toyota Lexus version of the Grand Highlander is expected to be revealed in the coming months.
