WhatsApp Launches Video Call AR Effects and Filters on iOS

On Monday, WhatsApp rolled out augmented reality (AR) tools and filters that can be used during video calls to some beta testers.

The Meta-owned messaging app has unveiled AR features to boost iOS users’ video call experience.

One key feature is the variety of dynamic facial filters offered. These filters enable users to alter their appearance in real-time during video calls, adjusting the color tone of their video feed.

Furthermore, WhatsApp has revealed a background editing feature that allows users to personalize their video calls more. This tool lets them either blur their background or swap it with one of the apps’ pre-set backgrounds.

According to reports, the messaging app plans to give iOS users the same access to new augmented reality features that are already available on the Android version.

Tech enthusiasts also discovered that the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.17.10.74 update on TestFlight includes an AR feature for call effects and filters.

The report also highlights a new feature, which is the low-light mode toggle. This feature allows users to enhance visibility in dimly lit environments with a simple switch, improving the lighting quality of their video feed.

Hence, it becomes easier for users to communicate clearly, even in low-light conditions.

Touch-up Tool Lets WhatsApp Users Allay Skin Imperfections

WhatsApp added touch-up mode, a subtle filter to smooth out skin imperfections, which provides users with a more polished appearance during video calls.

The feature is perfect for those who want to look their best during important calls without relying on special lighting while adding a touch of fun to casual conversations.

According to reports, WhatsApp allows users to customize their video calls to suit any occasion by providing tools such as color filters, background editing, low-light mode, and touch-up mode.

These features cater to various needs, making it more straightforward to adjust the visual tone of their communication.

An AR feature for call effects and filters is now available to select iOS beta testers, and a wider rollout is soon planned.
