On Friday, August 20, world stocks were mostly down as Europe and Asia Pacific shares crashed. Meanwhile, Wall Street was mixed as NASDAQ and S&P 500 were up.
The MSCI World Stocks Index fluctuated 0.48%, with a net loss of $14.79. This sent the stocks to the bottom at $3,063.22 per share.
In Europe, France’s CAC 40 Index pulled world stocks down as it declined 2.43% or 164.22 points to $6,606 per share.
In the London Stocks Exchange, the FTSE 100 Index led the losses as it sank 1.54% or 110.46 points to $7,059 per share.
Then, the FTSE All-Share Index shed 1.42% or 58.47 points to $4,064 per share.
In the Frankfurt Stocks Exchange, DAX dropped 1.25% or 200.16 points to $15,766 per share.
The MDAX Performance Index flopped 1.12% or 402.04 points to $35,609 per share.
Moreover, the MSCI All Countries Asia Pacific Index plummeted 1.85%, a net decrease of $3.64. This sent the stocks below at $192.83 per share.
On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Nikkei 225 collapsed 0.80% or 217.99, which points to $27,063 per share.
Likewise, the broader TOPIX Index plunged 0.53% or 10.05 points to $1,887.14 per share.
The Hang Seng Index of Hong Kong is the major decliner that pushed world stocks to the bottom. It sharply slid 2.57% or 650.24 points to $24,666 per share.
The Shenzhen Component Index led to the losses in China as it tumbled 2.18% or 315.78 points to $14,171.58 per share.
Additionally, the Shanghai Composite Index plunged 1.66% or 57.40 points to $3,408.15 per share.
Furthermore, in the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial Average subsided by 0.19% with a net fall of $66.57. This sent the stocks to the ground at $34,894 per share.
Its worst performer was Boeing Co which fell by 0.19% or 66.57 points to $34,894 per share.
Meanwhile, the S&P 500 led Wall Street’s gains as it jumped 0.13% with a net increase of $5.53. This sent the stocks above at $4,406 per share.
The benchmark’s best performer was Bath & Body Works Inc, which smashed 10.49% or 6.22 points to $65.51 per share.
Also, the NASDAQ Composite Index spiked 0.11%, with a net addition of $15.87. This sent the stocks higher at $14,542 per share.
Its top performer was Sonnet BioTherapeutics Holdings Inc which soared 63.74% or 0.47 points to $1.22 per share.
