X has reportedly been debuting its smart televisions (TVs) app to compete with YouTube, aiming for users to watch longer videos on a bigger screen.
The US-based website also plans to enter the competition against live-streaming services such as Twitch, the messaging application Signal, and the social media platform Reddit.
Since Elon Musk acquired the platform in 2022, X has undergone a significant overhaul from a micro-blogging site that enables users to share their thoughts with limited word counts.
Meanwhile, reports show that a TV app will soon be released, as Musk wants to compete with YouTube, the largest video-steaming platform. Moreover, sources said the app will be available first on Samsung and Amazon Smart TVs.
The informant also added that Musk wants to encourage X users to watch videos on a more prominent display.
Meanwhile, the multi-billionaire chief technology officer (CTO) has verified the matter by replying to an X post.
Meanwhile, content creators, influencers, movie enthusiasts, gamers, and various other communities actively search for content on the video streaming platform established in 2005.
Analysts observed that it will be intriguing to witness Musk’s attempt to challenge the dominance of the video content giant with X.
Musk, X’s CTO, intends to transform X into a platform primarily focused on video to boost the firm’s ad revenue.
According to the reports, individuals who subscribe and pay a monthly fee for X may upload videos for up to two hours on the platform.
Meanwhile, in October last year, the micro-blogging app launched video and audio call features, which were recently made available to all users. These recent modifications are part of Musk’s initiative to transform X into a super app.
Furthermore, the CTO has consistently expressed the desire to evolve the platform into an app offering a diverse range of services to its users.
