Apple CEO Hinted at The Firm’s Work in Autonomous Vehicles

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, hinted at the company’s work in autonomous vehicles. According to the report the company is in renewed talks to develop its car.

Cook announced on Monday that autonomy itself is a core technology.

When asked if Apple was working on a car itself or the technology within a car, Cook refused to comment.

Cook added that Apple aims to integrate hardware, software, and services and find the intersection points. He said that they love to own the primary technology that’s around that.

The firm should have gotten into the auto business with its vehicle or selling its technology to other carmakers. Apple has made some moves showing it planned to do so. The company acquired autonomous vehicle startup Drive.ai in 2019 in order to bolster its engineering ranks.

In an interview with Kara Swisher, Swisher asks Cook if he will still be at Apple in 10 years’ time.

Cook announced that he probably won’t be running Apple in 10 years. However, he didn’t give any hints about who will replace him as CEO.

Remarkably, there has been a renewed focus on Apple’s leadership plans. The company sees long-time executives like Jony Ive, Dan Riccio, and Phil Schiller depart their executive roles over the last couple of years.

Apple’s current CEO, Tim Cook, has been working at Apple since 1997. He became CEO in 2011 following the death of founder Steve Jobs. Cook celebrated his 60th birthday last year. Therefore, it’s not unexpected that there is naturally much speculation about how much longer he will be running the world’s largest company.

CEO’s answer appears to suggest that he will remain in the position for a while yet, with no date in sight. In 2020, Bloomberg announced that Apple was focusing on succession planning with CEO candidates, including Jeff Williams and John Ternus.
