On Tuesday, Intel mentioned launching a chip in December that could run a generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot on laptops.
The company stated the chip’s capabilities during a software developer conference in Silicon Valley. It showed it could allow businesses and consumers to test ChatGPT-style technologies without giving out sensitive data.
The new AI data-crunching abilities integrated into the upcoming Meteor Lake laptop chip of Intel made it possible. In addition, the new software tools to be released from the firm contributed to the advancements.
Also, the company showed off laptops that can generate Taylor Swift-style songs and conversationally answer questions. The capabilities were all shown while being disconnected from the internet.
According to CEO Pat Gelsinger, Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant can run on Intel-based PCs. He added that they see the AI PC as a modifying moment in technology innovation.
Intel executives said they will deliver a successor chip called Arrow Lake next year. Moreover, its manufacturing technology will compete with the best from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).
Besides, Intel was once crowned as the best chip manufacturer but lost the lead. On the other hand, it said it is now working on returning to the front.
The world’s top open-source solutions provider announced a new industrial edge platform in collaboration with Intel. Their partnership would provide a modern approach to building and operating industrial controls.
They would improve the way manufacturers operate and innovate with IT technologies. Therefore, the platform allows industrial control systems vendors, integrators, and manufacturers to automate manual industrial tasks.
Furthermore, Red Hat and Intel are integrating Intel-based platforms with current and future versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Also, both companies would bring advancements and platforms to multiple Red Hat sectors.
In addition, their collaboration will deliver a real-time kernel that offers lower latency and decreased jitter. As a result, it would help applications run repeatedly with higher reliability.
