Realme to Enter Europe’s High-End Smartphone Market

Realme Chongqing Mobile Telecommunications will enter Europe’s high-end handset market in February.

Accordingly, the Chinese smartphone maker will offer its priciest device to expand beyond its budget offerings.

Realme plans to sell its GT 2 Pro phone across European countries between $700.00 to $800.00.

The business expects the premium phone to appeal to customers because it has Qualcomm’s new flagship Snapdragon 8gen1 processor.

Consequently, the upgraded unit promises higher speed and power efficiency.

However, the price range is almost double the $395.00 suggested price of the GT Master Edition.

In addition, it is also near the prices of other high-end phones from market leaders.

Apple’s iPhone 13 prices start at around $850.00. The American tech company was Europe’s best-selling manufacturer last quarter.

Samsung and Xiaomi followed the list, with units priced at around $900.00 and $700.00, respectively.

Reports showed that Europe’s smartphone market obtained a total revenue of $80.65 billion in the first 11 months of 2021. Subsequently, high-end devices accounted for $55.56 billion.

This data was in line with the United States’ first three-quarters last year regarding handset revenue. However, it lagged behind China, the world’s largest smartphone market.

At present, the demand for smartphones is sluggish as the persistent pandemic weighed economic conditions.

Nevertheless, Realme CEO Sky Li said that the company could buck the downtrend. It added that the firm anticipated selling about 50.00% more phones globally this year.

Realme Focuses on Phones

Moreover, Li said Realme would stay focused on phones with no other thoughts or distractions.

On the other hand, its Chinese peers Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi currently make forays into processors and electric cars.

Realme was the world’s sixth-biggest smartphone seller as of September last year. It recorded strong sales in India, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe.

The firm has sold 60.00 million units in 2021 across the globe. It now targets to sell 90.00 million this year and over 100.00 million in 2023.

The company noted that the semiconductor shortages over the last year also hit its production.

Nevertheless, it reassured that the constraints could ease by the second half of 2022.

Meanwhile, with Oppo and Vivo, Realme remained under the Shenzhen-based conglomerate BBK Electronics.
