Zuckerberg Unveils Three Updates Coming to Facebook Products

According to the latest news, the social media giant is making it even easier to buy stuff. Today, Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg announced three e-commerce updates that are coming to Facebook products. Those updates are Shops on WhatsApp and Marketplace, Shops Ads, and Instagram Visual Search.

Shops on WhatsApp and Marketplace

Facebook launched Shops last year as a way for individuals to find and buy products on Facebook and Instagram. Remarkably, it was a part of its push into e-commerce and had around 1.2 million monthly active shops on the platform.

According to Zuckerberg, more than 1 billion people use Marketplace each month. He said they are making it easy for businesses to bring their Shops into the Marketplace to reach even more people. Remarkably, when users view a shop on WhatsApp, they will have the option to chat with a business before purchasing.

Earlier this month, at its F8 conference, Facebook unveiled updates to WhatsApp for Business. As we know previously, it could take weeks to set up a business account. However, now businesses can sign up in just a few minutes.

WhatsApp has over 2 billion global users. However, only around 175 million people message with WhatsApp Business accounts daily for things like customer support. As Facebook has been pushing e-commerce on platforms like Instagram, this initiative will expand to WhatsApp too.

Remarkably, the rollout for Shops in WhatsApp will begin soon. Meanwhile, Shop inventory in Marketplace is available now for Shops in the United States with on-site checkout.

Shops Ads

The next feature, Shops Ads, aims to provide a more individualized shopping experience based on individual shopping habits.

According to Zuckerberg, Facebook is launching the ability for the business to send shoppers to where customers are going to be most likely to make a purchase based on their shopping behavior.

Starting now, AR Dynamic Ads are available in the U.S. Some companies are using these ads to let customers test lipstick shades with AR before making a purchase.

Visual Search

The social media giant also announced that it would test an artificial intelligence tool called Visual Search in the coming months. Therefore, users shopping on its photo-sharing site Instagram can click on items and find similar products in Shops.

Zuckerberg added that users would be able to use this search form content on the app or on photos on their own camera rolls.
