Microsoft’s CoPilot Mobile App Launches on Android

Microsoft has officially launched Copilot, its highly anticipated mobile app, on the Android platform.

This fresh application can be found on the Google Play Store, providing users access to the tech giant’s artificial intelligence (AI)-driven Copilot independently of the Bing mobile app. According to reports, the Android app has been accessible for about a week, but there’s no iOS version released at present.

The Copilot app on Android closely resembles ChatGPT, offering chatbot features, DALL-E 3 image generation, and text drafting for emails and documents. Additionally, it provides free access to OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, a feature requiring payment with ChatGPT.

The introduction of the Copilot app on Android follows Microsoft’s renaming of Bing Chat to Copilot just over a month ago. Earlier this year, the tech giant incorporated a ChatGPT-like interface into Bing search results as part of its AI initiative.

Although Bing Chat remains accessible, Microsoft has abandoned the branding in favor of positioning Copilot as a more independent experience. Copilot now operates on its dedicated domain, copilot.microsoft.com, similar to ChatGPT.

Expanding the standalone Copilot experience with mobile apps seems inevitable, especially after rebranding Bing Chat Enterprise. While an iOS version is not available yet, accessing Copilot features is possible through the Bing app on iPhone or iPad.

CoPilot Expands Further with Android Debut

As part of its continued expansion, Microsoft’s CoPilot now extends its reach to Android users, aimed to foster collaboration and productivity on a broader scale.

This move follows the integration of the CoPilot brand into various Microsoft platforms, including Windows 10, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft 365 apps, and the recently launched Windows 11.

Furthermore, the AI assistant has introduced innovative features such as video summarization and song creation, enhancing its utility across diverse tasks.

While Android users can now benefit from CoPilot, there’s anticipation about potential developments for an iOS version, though no official announcement has been made regarding its release.
