Rockstar Games Releases ‘GTA VI’ Trailer After Early Leak

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.’s video game developer Rockstar Games Inc. has unveiled the teaser clip for its long-awaited Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI, the next chapter to its popular GTA franchise.

The trailer announced that GTA VI will be launched in 2025 and came after an early leak this week surfaced on social media, showing some footage of the new title’s gameplay and location, which may be Vice City.

The highly anticipated teaser was initially set to be released on Tuesday morning.

In 2022, Rockstar also encountered a similar incident involving a hacker leaking about 90 videos containing development footage of GTA VI, including robberies, gunplay, and open-world driving.

The company confirmed the videos were real and were spread online due to a ‘network intrusion.’

GTA VI’s reveal followed a decade after GTA V was introduced. The trailer also coincided with Rockstar Games’ 25th anniversary.

The teaser has so far surpassed 45 million views on YouTube.

GTA VI Expected to Generate Billions in Revenue

Analysts expect the GTA VI to bring in significant revenue for New York-based Take-Two, seeing a big hit with Rockstar Games’ new entry, which would potentially rack up billions of dollars in annual sales.

Echoing the same outlook was analyst Mike Hickey, who viewed GTA VI as a ‘major catalyst’ that would create substantial interest for the company.

Hickey expects the launch of the latest installment of the action-adventure franchise to significantly contribute to Take-Two’s growth in fiscal 2025 and 2026.

An exact forecast for sales has yet to be determined, although it was speculated that GTA VI might post revenue above $1 billion in the first week, possibly selling 14 million copies upon its release.

Rockstar’s accompanying online service, GTA Online Next, is also seen generating $1 billion in annual live service revenue, with its continued success predicted to boost user engagement in the coming years.
